In 2022, the average employee experienced 10 planned enterprise changes — such as a restructure to achieve efficiencies, a culture transformation to unlock new ways of working, or the replacement of a legacy tech system — up from two in 2016, according to Gartner research.
The role of the change leader has never been more clear - its about
leading through change with a proactive and adaptive approach. It requires a mindset that welcomes challenges, sees opportunities in transitions (read: messiness), and motivates others to embrace change through action and involvement.
I developed a mind map to articulate the five critical attributes that leaders today must possess to continue to drive organizational evolution. Feel free to download it below

Embracing Change Leadership for Success
Future focused
Leaders must be visionary in their thinking and actions - it is this ability to maintain a realistic, yet thoughtful picture of the future that helps rally everyone when the going gets tough (and it does.)
Adaptive
The ability to be open to diverse and unexpected solutions can spell the difference between paced vs. accelerated change
Emotional maturity
This one in the context of change, is a no brainer. Leaders need a high empathy quotient to operate in today's business context, with changing needs of the workforce.
People Centric
Understanding that people are not ONLY at the center but dynamically around changes all the time, will help leaders further devise strategies that influence people's minds and behaviors
Communication as a cornerstone
Research shows that 38% of employees report receiving an "excessive" volume of communications at their organization, leading to disengagement and poor decision-making.
Effective change leaders understand that this is a significant challenge, and discern that smart, timely, authentic communication using storytelling is what will distinguish them from the rest.
Change Leaders are all of this and more - but if there is one thing they do well; it's this - they bring people together during times of change. They forge connections and communities so no one feels like they are doing it alone.
